Garnet red with elegant orange reflections. Intense, complex and very persistent aroma, typically spicy with notes of aromatic herbs. Particularly clear are the hints of bitter orange and coriander. The taste is full, pleasantly sweet with a long bitter finish. Alcohol content: 18% vol. Food pairing: at the end of the meal, digestive, excellent with bitter chocolate. It is a product born in the back of pharmacies and "colonial shops" between the end of '800 and the beginning of '900, probably inspired by an ancient habit of using spicy wine as a medicine against light forms of malaise. The idea of transforming a noble wine such as Barolo into an herbal treatment is to be attributed to a pharmacist from Monforte: Dr. Giuseppe Cappellano.
